Renu Mathew is a sculptor, teacher, and television competition star making waves in the Canadian art scene. Based in Olds, Alberta, Renu teaches art, ceramics, cosmetology, and edible arts at Olds High School, where she inspires students with her creative energy and expertise. A long-time lover of ceramics, she discovered her passion for the medium in high school and went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a specialization in sculpture, followed by a degree in education.
Renu’s talents have earned her national recognition through appearances on two high-profile television competitions. She was a finalist in the Food Network’s Great Chocolate Showdown in 2020 and more recently competed on the CBC’s Great Canadian Pottery Throw Down. In the pottery competition, which began airing in February 2024, Renu showcased her technical skill and love for ceramics while forming meaningful connections with her fellow contestants.
Known for her sculptural, textured, and organic pottery style, Renu’s creative journey reflects a passion for embracing challenges and following her heart.
