Jaxson Naugler
Jax Naugler is a multidisciplinary Canadian artist with a focus in visual art, who also expresses his craft through writing, music, modeling and tattooing. In his art he explores themes of unapologetic sexuality, the human condition, and the hidden connections between us. He creates to share untold stories and convey feelings that are unexplainable through just words. He has been creating representations of humans behind the surface through a neo-expressionist approach; these genderless figures are unaware of their own flesh or presence and know only what they feel.
As a young child in Nova Scotia, he discovered the visual form of the English language through viewing letters more like drawings rather than as tools to create words by destroying the winegrowing textbooks his father had written, and creating something new – a pain in the butt for his parents. After starting as a realism/surrealism artist, Jax began to view creation through the idea that a painting is more than just a copy of something that already exists, but a combination of a perspective that skirts the “known” and tangible in our world and a thought process that does not align with the typical shared perceptions of our society.
