Sherrill Chase, born in Montreal, Québec, in November 1942, is a celebrated Canadian artist whose rich life experiences and diverse cultural influences are reflected in her work. Over the years, she has lived and painted in various locations, including St. Vincent in the West Indies, Sweden, Key West, Florida, and Santa Cruz, California.
Chase’s formal art education began at the Montréal Museum of Fine Arts, where she studied under the guidance of notable artists such as Gentile Tondino, Patrick Landsley, Claude Tousignant, and Stanley Lewis. She was honored with the prestigious Frothingham Scholarship for three consecutive years, awarded by Arthur Lismer, a founding member of the Group of Seven. Her talent and dedication to her craft were further recognized in Sweden, where she became an elected member of the Royal Organization of Swedish Artists (KRO).
Now based in Airdrie, Alberta, Chase maintains a studio where she continues to create art that captures her unique perspective and artistic journey. Her time in Kelowna and Osoyoos, British Columbia, further enriched her artistic voice, blending the vibrancy of her surroundings with her refined techniques.
Sherrill shares her life in Airdrie with her husband, Don, and their two beloved toy dachshunds, Toby and Emily, finding inspiration in the community and landscapes that surround her.
