Courtney LeBaron is an intensely passionate creative and channels an excitement about forms in nature and architecture into captivating artwork. She studied and practiced Interior Design for many years before launching into her career as a working artist. She often explores the overlap between her design training and art making; painting beautifully merges with her passions for tactile creation and interior aesthetics. Courtney paints urban and natural landscapes with fresh intuition, responding to the paint as she goes. Always playing within the balance of abstract and representational forms, she’s mindful to take daring risks so the painting keeps that feeling of energy. The landscape serves as a starting point, and from there, Courtney is quick to eliminate detail and bring the landscape to its essential and basic structural shapes using intuitive color choices. She is endlessly captivated by the process of creating layered and exuberant paintings; by stripping away the “realism”, the essence begins to surface.
